Meta Partners with Arevon Energy on 40-MW Solar Project in Indiana
Arevon Energy, a leader in renewable energy development, has signed a long-term environmental attributes purchase agreement (EAPA) with Meta Platforms for the Heirloom Solar Project in Pike County, Indiana. This partnership highlights Meta’s ongoing commitment to sourcing 100% renewable energy for its operations.
Heirloom Solar Project: A Step Towards Sustainability
The 60-MWAC Heirloom Solar Project, currently under construction, is set to be fully operational by Q3 2025. Arevon Energy will own and operate the project, bringing significant benefits to the local community. Landowners will receive steady payments throughout the project’s lifespan, allowing them to diversify their income while continuing farming activities. This collaboration aligns with Meta’s sustainability objectives, aiming for net zero emissions across its value chain.
Community and Economic Impact
The Heirloom Solar Project, along with an adjacent solar facility, will inject over $86 million into local governments over their lifespans. The project is also expected to create nearly 200 full-time equivalent jobs during the construction phase, boosting the local economy and supporting community growth.
Arevon’s CEO, Kevin Smith, expressed pride in partnering with Meta, emphasizing the shared commitment to sustainable energy. “Pike County has been a welcoming host, and we are excited to be a part of the community for years to come,” he said.
Meta’s Renewable Energy Commitment
Meta’s head of renewable energy, Urvi Parekh, highlighted the importance of this collaboration as part of the company’s broader strategy to transition to clean energy. “We are pleased to work with Arevon again as we continue advancing the transition to clean energy,” said Parekh. This partnership marks another significant step for Meta in achieving its goal of matching its global operations with 100% renewable energy.
Expanding Partnerships: Kelso Solar Project
This is not the first collaboration between Arevon and Meta. In March 2024, the two companies announced long-term EAPAs for the Kelso Solar Project in Scott County, Missouri, which will provide 349 MWAC of power. This project supports Meta’s regional operations with 100% renewable energy, further solidifying the partnership between the two companies.
