SolarEdge Unveils Advanced Residential Solar + Storage System at RE+
SolarEdge Technologiesrecently introduced its next-generation residential solar + storage system at the RE+ event, offering a flexible, scalable energy solution designed for homes across the U.S. This new single-phase system combines a powerful inverter and modular battery storage, aiming to provide whole-home backup capabilities tailored to individual needs.
Modular and Scalable Design for All Homes
The new SolarEdge system offers modular scalability, allowing homeowners to begin with just a solar photovoltaic (PV) setup or add a smaller 4.4 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery at a lower entry cost. The system can scale up significantly, supporting up to four battery modules per battery, allowing for a total of 17.6 kWh per unit. Each inverter can connect up to four batteries, resulting in a maximum capacity of 70.4 kWh, and up to three inverters can be installed on a single site, delivering a total energy storage of 211.2 kWh. This flexibility lets installers and homeowners customize the system to fit their energy needs now and in the future.
Enhanced Energy Yield and Efficiency
The new SolarEdge solution leverages its proprietary DC-coupled architecture, which eliminates the energy loss typically seen in systems that undergo triple conversion. This efficient design maximizes energy yield, especially when paired with battery module-level optimization. The system is also integrated with the SolarEdge ONE advanced energy management software, enhancing overall energy savings by intelligently managing energy use and storage.
Streamlined Installation for Installers
SolarEdge’s new system is engineered to simplify the installation and commissioning process, reducing setup times by up to 50%, with the entire setup process taking just 20 to 30 minutes. The versatile design allows for various configurations, such as PV-only, storage-only, or backup solutions, all using the same product components. This flexibility streamlines inventory management for installers and opens new opportunities to expand their service offerings.
The inclusion of a Meter Collar further simplifies whole-home backup installations and reduces the need for costly main panel upgrades, making it easier for homeowners to access reliable backup power. The system also supports large residential HVAC systems and is designed to be compatible with installations in extreme climate zones, ensuring robust performance under various conditions.
Manufacturing and Market Roll-Out
The new SolarEdge solar + storage system is expected to launch in late 2025, with production planned at the company’s U.S. manufacturing facilities. This domestic production strategy is intended to help the company qualify for maximum domestic content incentives, aligning with federal energy policies aimed at boosting domestic manufacturing of renewable energy products.
Meeting the Evolving Needs of Homeowners
Ronen Faier, interim CEO of SolarEdge, emphasized that this next-generation system reflects the company’s deep understanding of the evolving energy market and the needs of homeowners across North America. “Our vast experience with millions of homes in the U.S. has shaped this integrated solar and storage solution,” Faier stated. “It not only addresses the need for reliable home battery storage but also offers the flexibility to adapt to dynamic energy markets.”
