Sungrow Unveils Next-Generation Utility & C&I Energy Storage Solutions

Sungrow is preparing to make a major impact at this year’s RE+ tradeshow, announcing a new lineup of advanced inverters and high-capacity energy storage systems engineered for the next decade of renewable deployment. The highlight is the PowerTitan 3.0, the company’s most powerful AC-block utility-scale BESS to date, now capable of delivering 6.9 MWh inside a standard 20-ft ISO container, setting a new benchmark for energy density and large-scale ESS integration.

A New Generation of Utility-Scale Power: Sungrow SG4800UD-MV-US (4.8 MW)

For the North American utility market, Sungrow is introducing the 4.8 MW SG4800UD-MV-US modular inverter, a design that blends the strengths of large central inverters with the operational flexibility of string architectures. Each 4.8-MW block consists of 800-kW modules, enabling rapid replacement in under an hour and providing exceptional uptime.

Engineered for harsh climates, the inverter delivers 100% output at 45°C (113°F) and carries a sealed NEMA 4X rating, offering maximum protection against dust, moisture and corrosive environments. Intelligent fault diagnosis, self-cleaning air ducts, smart DC terminal temperature protection and pressure-relief engineering make it a reliable workhorse for multi-hundred-megawatt solar fields.

With support for PV grid-forming, off-grid commissioning, and fast deployment, Sungrow’s new modular inverter is designed to accelerate early revenue generation and improve long-term project ROI.

PowerTitan 3.0 — A Major Leap in Large-Scale Energy Storage

Sungrow’s next-generation PowerTitan 3.0 is a fully integrated, AC-block utility-scale BESS engineered to deliver massive energy density and best-in-class performance.

Market-Leading Battery Density

The system integrates the world’s first mass-produced 661 Ah stacking LFP cell, enabling:

  • 6.9 MWh per 20-ft container,

  • 2–8 hour configurations,

  • 12,500-cycle lifespan, making it one of the industry’s most cost-efficient long-duration storage systems.

Next-Generation PCS and Efficiency

At the heart of PowerTitan 3.0 is a 430-kVA liquid-cooled SiC PCS, achieving:

  • 99.3% maximum efficiency,

  • 93.6% RTE for a 4-hour system (92% with auxiliary load).

This PCS allows Sungrow to push utility-scale efficiency to new heights, reducing losses and improving revenue in long-duration projects.

Safety and Thermal Excellence

Sungrow incorporates 11 layers of protection, including cell over-voltage protection, integrated PCS AC fusing, and ArcDefender arc-mitigation technology. Its liquid-cooled thermal management system significantly reduces auxiliary power needs and extends overall system life.

Grid-Forming, Black-Start & Ultra-Fast Response

Built on Sungrow’s Stem-Cell Grid-Forming Tech 2.0, PowerTitan 3.0 can:

  • anticipate grid disturbances,

  • deliver 20-ms response times,

  • handle 90° phase-angle jumps,

  • operate across SCR values from 1–40,

  • perform gigawatt-scale black start,

  • switch seamlessly between grid-following and grid-forming modes.

The system is fully UL9540-certified before shipment, reducing commissioning time, lowering install costs, and enabling rapid deployment in markets requiring strict AHJ compliance.

PowerStack 255CS — Scalable C&I Storage for North America

For commercial and industrial applications, Sungrow is launching the PowerStack 255CS, an all-in-one ESS delivering 257 kWh per unit with 314-Ah LFP cells and a two-hour configuration.

Featuring an integrated PCS, BMS, and liquid cooling system, PowerStack 255CS minimizes installation complexity and supports up to 25 units in parallel, enabling project sizes from 257 kWh to 6.4 MWh. Its PCS operates with 98.6% max efficiency, while the system achieves 90% RTE.

With UL9540 and NFPA855/69 compliance and over 500 verified safety tests, PowerStack 255CS meets the highest requirements for C&I deployment in North America.
