BYD Surpasses 1.5 Million Installed Residential Energy Storage Systems Worldwide

BYD Energy Storage has reached a major global milestone, announcing that more than 1.5 million residential energy storage systems have now been installed worldwide under its BatteryBox brand. The achievement marks a significant step in BYD’s decade-long expansion in the residential and small commercial energy storage market.

According to the company, 500,000 new BatteryBox systems were added since June 2024, highlighting continued growth despite challenging market conditions in parts of Europe and other mature solar regions. BYD first revealed it had reached one million installed systems at The Smarter E Europe exhibition in Germany in mid-2024, meaning the company delivered half a million additional installations in roughly 18 months.

BYD Energy Storage described the milestone as confirmation of its position as one of the most widely deployed distributed energy storage solutions globally. While the company did not disclose a regional breakdown of installations, BatteryBox systems are currently used across Europe, Australia, Asia, Africa, and the Americas, supported by a broad network of local distributors and installers.

Speaking on the announcement, Jiang Feng, Residential Energy Storage System Director at BYD Energy Storage, emphasized the company’s strategic evolution beyond hardware alone.

“BYD Energy Storage is evolving from a battery system provider into a fully integrated solution partner for residential green energy,” Jiang said. “In 2025, we introduced a full-link solution that combines battery systems, inverters, apps, and a cloud platform, delivering greater value and a more complete user experience.”

Product Innovation Driving Growth

Alongside the installation milestone, BYD highlighted several key product developments introduced throughout 2025. Among them is the BatteryBox HVB, the first BatteryBox system to incorporate BYD’s Blade Battery technology. This advancement improves both gravimetric and volumetric energy density, enhancing performance while maintaining the safety standards for which BYD’s LFP chemistry is known.

The company also expanded its residential portfolio with the BatteryBox HVE platform, an integrated and modular storage solution designed specifically for home energy applications. The platform supports flexible module sizing, allowing homeowners to scale capacity as their energy needs evolve.

In parallel, BYD has continued its move toward fully bundled solutions, pairing BatteryBox systems with BYD-branded inverters under the Power Box product line. This integrated approach reflects a broader industry trend toward simplified installation, unified monitoring, and tighter system-level optimization.

Strengthening the Global Home Storage Ecosystem

Looking ahead, BYD Energy Storage plans to deepen cooperation with distributors and installers worldwide through localized market strategies, professional training programs, and enhanced after-sales support. The company sees these efforts as critical to supporting the next phase of residential electrification, as households increasingly combine solar PV, storage, EV charging, and smart energy management.

As residential energy storage continues to play a growing role in grid flexibility and energy independence, BYD’s latest milestone underscores both the scale of global demand and the increasing maturity of the home storage market.
