Porsche Wireless Charging: Inductive Energy Supply for the Next Generation of EVs

Wireless charging changed how we use smartphones — simply place your device in a cradle, and the energy flows. Now, Porsche is taking this convenience to a whole new level. From 2026, the brand will launch Porsche Wireless Charging, an 11 kW inductive charging system for its all-electric vehicles, starting with the upcoming Cayenne Electric.

This breakthrough will make Porsche the first car manufacturer to bring series-ready inductive charging for EVs to the market, eliminating the need for wallboxes or bulky control units. Drivers will simply park over a floor plate and let the car do the rest.

blankEasy, Everyday Charging at Home

According to Porsche’s own research, 75% of EV charging happens at home. That’s why the Wireless Charging floor plate has been designed for maximum convenience. Measuring 117 x 78 x 6 cm, it can be installed in garages, carports, or even outdoor parking spaces.

The Cayenne automatically lowers to align with the plate, and charging begins as soon as the car is in position. With up to 11 kW charging power and an efficiency of 90%, it delivers the same performance as a wired AC wallbox — but without the hassle of plugging in.

blankSafety and Smart Integration

The system is equipped with motion detectors and foreign object sensors, automatically stopping charging if an animal, person, or metal object interferes. Porsche’s engineers designed it to be weatherproof and robust, with TÜV Süd confirming the safety and reliability of the system.

The charging process integrates seamlessly with the My Porsche app, which allows tracking, authentication for multiple vehicles, and smart functions like timer charging and preconditioning.

Built for Harsh Conditions

Outdoor installation is no problem. The IP-rated, CE- and UL-certified floor plate is resistant to rain, snow, and even being driven over by the vehicle itself. With built-in LTE and WLAN modules, it also supports remote updates and long-term infrastructure reliability.

A New Dimension of EV Innovation

Alongside inductive charging, the upcoming Cayenne Electric will feature DC fast charging up to 400 kW, rivaling Porsche’s Macan and Taycan benchmarks. At Porsche Charging Lounges, drivers will be able to recharge their vehicles faster than ever, making long journeys seamless.

And at the IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich, Porsche will present a striking prototype wrapped in fluorescent electroluminescent paintwork, showcasing not only technological innovation but also Porsche’s flair for design.

Solar&Solar’s Perspective

At Solar&Solar, we see Porsche’s Wireless Charging as a game-changer for electric mobility. It demonstrates how inductive technology can simplify everyday EV use, reduce infrastructure needs, and bring us closer to a future of seamless, sustainable transport.

By eliminating cables, enhancing safety, and making charging as simple as parking, Porsche is setting a new standard that could soon extend far beyond luxury vehicles.
