Schneider Electric Powers Cavite Manufacturing With 100% Renewable Energy

Partnership with ACEN RES positions the Cavite Smart Factory as a regional benchmark for industrial decarbonisation

Schneider Electric has completed a major milestone in its global sustainability strategy by shifting all five of its manufacturing facilities in the Cavite Economic Zone, Philippines, to 100% renewable energy. The transition, enabled through a renewable energy supply agreement with ACEN RES, marks a significant step forward for industrial decarbonisation in Southeast Asia.

The move was executed under the Philippine government’s Green Energy Option Program (GEOP), which allows large electricity consumers to source power directly from renewable energy providers instead of traditional distribution utilities. By leveraging this framework, Schneider Electric is not only reducing its own carbon footprint, but also actively supporting the expansion of the country’s clean energy market.

A Strategic Shift Under the Green Energy Option Program

The transition began in December 2025 and now fully covers Schneider Electric’s office and production sites in Cavite, where the company operates advanced semiconductor and electronics manufacturing lines. These facilities are now powered entirely by renewable electricity supplied by ACEN RES, the retail energy arm of the Ayala Group.

By opting into GEOP, Schneider Electric gains direct access to clean power while helping accelerate demand-driven renewable capacity growth in the Philippines. The program is increasingly seen as a key policy tool for enabling corporate participation in the energy transition, particularly for energy-intensive industries.

Measurable Climate Impact at Industrial Scale

According to Schneider Electric, the full switch to renewable energy is expected to avoid nearly 11,600 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually, demonstrating the tangible climate benefits of corporate renewable procurement.

This achievement places the Cavite Smart Factory:

  • Among the first facilities in Luzon’s economic zones to operate fully on renewable energy

  • The first site in East Asia within Schneider Electric’s global manufacturing network to reach 100% renewable electricity

The company views this as proof that renewable energy is not only environmentally beneficial, but also technically reliable and scalable for complex, high-precision industrial operations.

ACEN RES: Enabling Corporate Energy Transition

ACEN RES, which currently holds the largest market share under the Green Energy Option Program, highlighted the Schneider Electric partnership as a model for how major manufacturers can lead the shift away from fossil fuels.

According to ACEN RES, more companies are recognising that renewable energy:

  • Provides long-term price and supply stability

  • Is operationally dependable for continuous industrial use

  • Aligns sustainability goals with business resilience

Through GEOP, ACEN RES continues to support organisations nationwide in reducing emissions while maintaining operational performance.

Recognition and Transparency: “Powered by Renewable Energy”

To formally recognise the transition, ACEN RES awarded Schneider Electric its “Powered by Renewable Energy” badge, a seal granted to organisations operating entirely on clean power. The badge is already displayed at nearly 100 facilities across the Philippines.

For Schneider Electric, the certification serves two purposes:

  • It communicates clear, verifiable climate action to stakeholders

  • It reinforces the company’s broader net-zero and ESG commitments across its global operations

A Signal for Industrial Decarbonisation in Southeast Asia

Schneider Electric’s Cavite transition underscores a wider shift in how manufacturers approach energy sourcing. As renewable energy markets mature and policy frameworks improve, corporate procurement is becoming a central driver of clean energy deployment, particularly in fast-growing economies.

By demonstrating that advanced manufacturing can operate fully on renewable electricity, Schneider Electric sets a precedent for other industrial players seeking to reduce emissions while maintaining competitiveness. The project also strengthens the Philippines’ renewable energy momentum, highlighting how industry can play a pivotal role in building a more sustainable and resilient energy system.
